NIAMH BURY

With influences as wide-ranging as Laura Marling, Fiona Apple and Paul Simon, to name a few, Niamh Bury’s music will resonate with fans of artists like Big Thief, Ye Vagabonds and Billie Marten.

The respected UK music magazine CLASH referred to Niamh in an interview as “The rising voice breaking boundaries for Irish folk”. RTÉ Radio 1 has added all of her singles to their coveted ‘RTÉ Radio 1 Recommends’ list. The Sunday Times featured her on the cover of their Culture Magazine as her first single ‘Beehive’ was released – an incredible achievement for a new artist – such is the regard in which Niamh and her music are held.

Ending 2023 on a high note, Niamh stunned audiences at Other Voices Dingle where she played three very special sets: an intimate acoustic concert at An Diséart against the backdrop of the chapel’s famous Harry Clarke stained glass windows - to say you could hear a pin drop is an understatement; a packed out O’Sullivan’s Courthouse which delighted those lucky enough to squeeze into the tiny pub; and an incredible, string-laden performance at Other Voices’ The Other Room venue, accompanied by revered musicians Caimin Gilmore on double bass and Kate Ellis on cello – this performance will be aired on RTÉ Two television on the 21st of March.

She has performed at St. Patrick’s Festival, Body & Soul, Quiet Lights, and Dún Laoghaire Folk Festival, captivating audiences with uniquely stirring vocals, adept lyricism, and striking interpretations of old songs.

Niamh is one of the chief organisers of the iconic traditional singing session The Night Before Larry Got Stretched, which famously takes place in The Cobblestone Pub on the last Sunday of every month and whose founders include members of Lankum.

What do you get when you blend three Irish princesses with an Australian queen? A captivating amalgamation of musical styles, ranging from punchy dream pop to explorations of 90s grunge, post-punk, shoegaze, and synth-pop. Drawing inspiration from acts like DIIV, Cocteau Twins, Beach House, Mount Kimbie, St Vincent, Dry Cleaning, Alvvays, and Slowdive, Dose crafts a unique sonic palette.

FRIDAY

VI0LET

Irish producer and songwriter vi0let has always been an outsider. Raised between Ireland’s South coast and the German town of Wiesbaden, her untethered upbringing let her play in the borderlands between Europe’s music cultures; from hardstyle to eurodance and pop to dark wave. A self-described “very online kid”, vi0let supercharges her productions with archival elements of Japanese vocaloid pop and high-octane anime soundtracks, brought together by stellar songwriting bonafides. “I’m drawn to things that feel disconnected from their roots,” she explains, “things that have had to become bigger than where they’re from.”

Vi0let’s 2024 releases include ‘Blue Blood’, a song about giving a frosty F-you to an ex, and ‘I Need The High’, which finds her casting off romance in pursuit of something more stimulating. Her latest ‘For The Better’ is a ballad in high gear, with vaulting vocals over a cry-in-the-club beat. Now based in London, her palette continues to expand, pulling from sweaty UK club culture, maximalist harajuku street fashion and the icy cool of Slavic glamour.  “I don’t want to narrow myself down,” she insists. “I’ve always had to reinvent myself. I’m very good at it”.

THURSDAY

They create a dreamy, eerie soundscape with haunting vocals, wistful harmonies and reverb-soaked guitars. Their sonic has a dark undertone and will pull you into their grungy world.

Beginning in June of 2023, they have quickly made a name for themselves playing with bands such as NewDad, Fangclub, Cardinals and many more. FRIDAY

CRUEL SISTER

Cruel Sister is the project of Dublin-based songwriter and producer Faith Nico. It began from a desire to make the music she herself wished to hear in the world, and thus she began producing her first EP Girls My Age from her bedroom on Ableton.

Described by Nialler9 as “bedroom shoegaze”, Cruel Sister’s sound, taking influence from Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, and PJ Harvey, spans from dreamy indie rock soaked in reverb to the screeching distorted guitars and screaming vocals heard on her Sophomore EP Turgid. Her candid lyrics talk about topics such as the struggle of being known, the joys of being loved, coping with the existential, and the pain of girlhood.

Her songs are then brought to life at her live shows with her touring band - a four piece - where Cruel Sister’s careful songwriting meets chaotic performance.

FRIDAY

THE CLIFFORDS

Cork based indie rock/pop band The Cliffords capture the essence of love, heartbreak, and cathartic joy through their dynamic and emotional sound.

SATURDAY

MARIA KELLY

Nestled somewhere along the Irish coast, Maria Kelly is writing songs for sensitivities.

Galvanised by the likes of Daughter, Laura Marling and Lucy Rose, Maria has crafted her own world of delicately woven indie-folk with a sincerity that cuts to the bone.

This sincerity is what captivated a dedicated audience for her 2021 debut album 'The Sum of the In-between'. Detailing the intricacies of her own mental health journey, the record quickly found it's home, amassing millions of Spotify streams, leading to performances alongside Kodaline, Orla Gartland, and James Vincent McMorrow, and soundtracking RTÉ's trailer for ‘Conversations With Friends’.

In 2023, Maria focused her efforts on growing a grassroots community while she finished her next offering. Craving more authentic artist-listener connection, Maria embarked on a DIY 'Living Room Tour'; rooms of 40-50 strangers, huddled around the fire, sharing stories, songs, and vulnerabilities. So far, these dates have spanned Ireland, the UK, and the Netherlands, cultivating a close-knit audience that have not only found a connection to Maria's music, but also to each other.
Maria's second album is on the way, with the first single ‘Drive’ out now. Produced by her creative-collaborator Matt Harris (Veta, HAVVK), and mixed/mastered by Rocky O'Reilly (Start Together, Oppenheimer).

Exploring deeper sonic and emotional wells, this record packs a punch, and soothes like a balm, promising to be Maria's most affecting work to date.

EZRA WILLIAMS

Most recently their song “With Out Me” featured in the Netflix 2024 show Bodkin. While April 2024 they released their third EP SOCKs. They offer an often overlooked take on emotional relationships, as Ezra is writing as a person who is non-binary and on the autism spectrum. Their live performances have previously included Glastonbury, Beyond The Pale Festival, The Great Escape, Rough Trade West, All together Now, Co-Pop Fest, Other Voices and Fanning at Whelan’s.

THURSDAY

LUCY BLUE

Lucy Blue is a 19-year-old singer, songwriter and producer from Dublin, Ireland, who builds unique musical worlds from wide ranging influences covering the likes of Frank Ocean, PJ Harvey and iconic skate bible Thrasher Magazine. With mature observational lyrics about lost love, overwhelming angst and the lives of childhood friends – in a way not dissimilar to the early work of her cinematic idol Harmony Korine – Lucy’s ambitious, coming-of-age pop revels in the outsider spirit and vulnerability of being a teenager finding her way in the world.

Lucy is also an incredibly visual person. For every song the Irish singer, songwriter and producer creates, she sees a space in which it exists. Sometimes it’s a room (a karaoke bar in Tokyo, her mum’s living room), sometimes a night-time bike ride, sometimes even an ominous dark place full of lily pads floating in water. With her soft Dublin accent Lucy explains how these images take over as she writes her music; how they usually come right at the start, shaping the session and the resulting song completely. “It just helps me so much with music,” Lucy says. “I need to tie what I’m hearing to an image. It helps my brain.”

With a predisposition for taking on the emotional stories of her peers and a talent for processing them into something positive, Lucy Blue is an essential young voice in music: just a girl from Dublin fated to soundtrack our lives.

As well as sold out headline shows in The Grand Social, Sin E, Whelan’s and Workman’s. Through the deliberate juxtaposition of abrasive and ambient noise, CABL’s debut single ‘What a Pop Song Sounds Like’, reflects the turbulent and fickle nature of dysfunctional relationships. With the help of producer Chris Ryan, CABL's sophomore single 'Stranded at the Airport' takes a more dream pop inspired approach. Described as a “Slow burning banger” by The Goo, the track blends ambient glitch loops with fuzzed out Kevin Shields-esque guitar work and sampled backing vocals that all accumulate to a crescendo of intricate noise. Void magazine described the
track as “ominous” and “undoubtedly Irish”, paying homage to the aforementioned Irish noise and shoegaze heavies.

Their Chris Ryan produced debut EP “See You In a Year and a Half” is a project that deals with themes of moral contradiction and loss expressed through narrative driven storytelling and surreal dream like imagery. Covering a wide array of genres from the Irish folk revival to washed out shoegaze, “S.Y.I.A.Y.A.A.H.” accumulated tens of thousands of streams in its first few months on Spotify.
